A begger girl's touching story

From a friend...

A GOLDEN HEART:

"I made a new friend. She is Leila, one of those Fulani’s from Mali who beg for alms at the Accra mall. She approached me  smiled and spoke pidgin.Auntie "make u give me money make i buy food chop'.. I smiled back and said I  have not eaten since morning myself..she asked if it was true ...I said yeah... she then handed me all the coins she had in hand... I asked if she is sure i could use the money...She replied Yes I  could...When I  counted the money, it was just a cedi and 10p... I told her it wont be enough...she asked me to wait for a minute...She went to check where she keeps her money and brought back  4cedis...She said 5 cedis should be enough to buy rice... I  told her i would need water she then asked me to wait so she begs  for some money for me, after  10 minutes she came back with 50 pesewas from her brother and said she can direct me to a canteen...I  followed her. While engaging her in conversation, people just starred at us.Others advised  i shouldn't mind her. I told them she wasn't begging for money.

I distracted her with question while we waited. She is js 10 years. I asked why she gave me all the money. She replied "ibi u dey hungry auntie, i go fit beg for money but u no go fit, so just take am".At  this point i had tears in my eyes.People were wondering what conversation we were having..She asked that i take photos with her. When my friend arrived she told her to make sure i get food to eat. I asked her to take back her money. She looked very disappointed and asked why, I  told her i just needed company while i waited..."

Wow....what a touching story! I believe you and I would agree that Leila has a heart of gold. How many of us will give wholeheartedly to people who need our help in trying times as this young lady did. This is love. She loves her neighbour as herself or more than herself. I  pray that Leila will never lack anything in life.

Daughter of Afro pop legend Fela Kuti engaged at 55

Yeni Kuti, the daughter of late Afro-beat legend, Fela Kuti is finally out of the singles club!

Yeni-Kuti-with-her-fiancé-Theo-Lawson
Yeni recently got engaged to her partner of five years, Theo Lawson, at a surprise birthday party held in Lagos.

According to Femi Kuti’s manager, Mallam Abdul Okwechime who confirmed the story to Naij.com, the party which held on May 24, 2016, was organised by the duo of Mallam Abdul and Akin Adeoye, the president of Prince of Anthony Hotels, where the event was held.

Yeni, who is also the eldest child of Fela Kuti, was treated to a lavish party witnessed by family and close friends.

The Kutis
At the event were Dr. Dotun Ransome-Kuti, Seun Kuti, Kunle Kuti and Femi Kuti, who gave an unexpected musical performance.

Yeni Kuti had been married before to the late Femi Segun, who died from a power bike accident on March 21, 2014.

Mourinho will bring Manchester united legend back

According to the Daily Mirror,  Jose Mourinho wants to bring Rio Ferdinand back to Manchester United as part of his coaching staff.

Manchester United have finally appointed Jose Mourinho as manager of the club after months of speculation. The tactician has signed a three year contract with the club after Louis van Gaal’s sacking .

The source reports that Mourinho believes the former centre-back has ‘outstanding qualities’ and has made enquiries about the 37-year-old’s availability. it should be noted that Ferdinand currently works as a pundit for BT Sport and will be part of the BBC’s team for Euro 2016.

Previously Ferdinand, who made over 400 appearances for United, winning six Premier League titles and one Champions League crown said: “Congratulations to Jose on being announced manager of the biggest club in the world! This is Jose Mourinho’s most exciting & most challenging job yet.”

He continued: “The first thing he needs to do is install ‘winning mentality’ back into the club. Get this ingredient back into the players but also the people that work inside the club day to day. Give them back that belief so it is breathing throughout the club again, which is so important. But doing the above in the Manchester United way is equally as important.”

Ferdinand added: “I have heard many say the ‘Mourinho WAY’ is not the Manchester United style of playing football. However, the Chelsea team that Jose put together first time round when he entered the Premier League played with wingers and hurt teams with quick attacking play. They had the likes of [Arjen] Robben and [Damien] Duff on the wings who were direct and quick. This is a sign he knows how to get a team playing in a way Manchester United fans can look forward to seeing.”

A Dubai bound Emirates flight made an emergency landing in Lagos due to the deteriorating health condition of a suspected cocaine trafficker

An Emirates flight EK 262 from Sao Paulo, Brazil to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, made an emergency landing in Lagos due to the deteriorating health condition of a suspected cocaine trafficker who was onboard the plane yesterday May 28th. Screening by the NDLEA officials found four passengers positive for drug ingestion who are currently under interrogation.

One of the suspects in critical condition was immediately hospitalized as doctors battled to save his life.

Speaking on the incident, the NDLEA commander at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos, Ahmadu Garba, said the Emirates flight left Sao Paulo, Brazil to Dubai but was forced to make an emergency landing in Lagos due to the health condition of a passenger on board who ingested cocaine.

Upon arrival, four passengers tested positive for narcotic ingestion. They are Okeh Desmond, Ezeanya Nnaemeka, Christopher Nonso and Chibusi Promise. I would like to state categorically that I have not written any article on the power sector and certainly did not write the below article. Adekunle Gold has unveiled the album cover for his debut album

YBNL hit-maker, Adekunle Gold has unveiled the album cover for his debut album titled ‘Gold’.

The album was officially set for release this June, but the ‘Ready‘ crooner had to shift the date to July because of Ramadan (the Muslim fasting period) so everyone can enjoy the music.

The urban highlife act took to his social media pages to announce a new date and unveil the cover art.

Earlier reports had suggested that the singer who signed a 2 year deal with YBNL will leave after dropping his debut album ‘Gold’ in June and launch his own record label.

Single Ladies: 8 things that turn men off

Here are attitudes that turn men off, read on.

1. Arrogance
Men do not like ladies who boast about themselves or their achievements. I went on a date with a woman once who kept talking about how famous her family name was where she lived, and how it commanded a certain “respect”, and how I’d be lucky to experience even being a part of that. I got the impression that she thought she was better than people. I’d be “lucky” to experience being attached to her family name? No thanks.

2. Excessive complaining.
Stop complaining about how big your tummy is, or how much you spent on your mother’s birthday last month.

3. Talking without action.
You keep talking about how you need to fix your room, but never do anything about it….

4. Poor conversation.
The dude should not always be the person to ask questions or bring up a topic, say something sis.

5. “Don’t be boring.”
Be current and trendy…. read 4 above again.

6. A lack of ambition. A woman doesn’t have to want to run for President. But women shoukd know what kind of life they want, what they’re interested in, what they want to get paid to do. It doesn’t matter what it is – she could want to be a teacher, or a scientist, or work for a charity, or run her own business, or be a writer, like me. As long as she’s working towards something.

7. A woman who’s not living her own life.
men are attracted to women who are doing what they want regardless of what other people think. Men like the confidence, and the independence, and the fact they value choice.

8.Texting and messaging all day.
men are turned off because they think she doesn’t have things to do.

Khloe Kardashian files for divorce from Lamar Odom again

Although Khloe Kardashian and Lamar Odom have been separated for even longer than they’ve been married, it looks like their divorce is only going to be finalized before the end of the year. Khloe kardashian has formally filed for a divorce according to several reports and a copy of her court filing has been made public.

It is the second time Khloe Kardashian is filing for a divorce from her short lived marriage with Odom who has a history of drug and alcohol problems.

Former basketball star Lamar Odom was rumored to have been working to save his marriage with Khloe shortly after he almost lost his life after overdosing on drugs. Khloe Kardashian on her own path was rumored to have been seeing French Montana and James Harden at different points in time.

The duo signed a prenuptial agreement and the split is expected to be largely amicable although California law stipulates that they have to wait six months before the marriage is officially dissolved.

Young man was beaten and burnt in App Abuja because of #10

A young man identified as Ikechukwu Anigbo was reportedly killed and burnt to death over the weekend around a relaxation centre in Apo Mechanic Village, Abuja.

According to reports, the 32-year-old barber from Aku, Enugu State took a bike and argument ensued between him and the motorcycyclist when he paid. The man insisted his money is N60 instead of N50. It was alleged that attracted his colleagues to the scene by shouting "thief". The mob gathered and started beating Ikechukwu after which they set him ablaze.

Confirming the tragic incident, Mr. Ezema Virginius Chukwudike, the taskforce chairman of Abuja Spares Dealers Association, Apo, said "The mob that gathered following the alarm collected tyres from a vulcanising workshop near the scene and set the deceased on fire"

The next day, angry Igbo men in Apo blocked the road and started attacking any vehicle or Keke Napep with Hausa person or people who look like Hausa. Fortunately, the police were able to stop the riot before it escalated.

Speaking to Daily Trust, a friend of the deceased, Chukwudi Orji said he learnt about Ikechuwu's death when he got home at about 11p.m.

"I saw the fire, but I did not know that someone was inside. There was smoke everywhere; there was no way you would have known that there was someone in the fire, except you were there or somebody told you about it," he said.

"If I had known about it on time, I would have tried to save him because he was innocent," he added.

Speaking further, Mr Chukwudike said, "When news of the incident spread, people became angry. They wondered why the motocyclists would burn an innocent man. Even the man who voluntered to carry the corpse after he had been killed, was chased away"

He said this is not the first time that motorcyclists are killing someone over a paltry sum of money.

"A similar thing happened in Kabusa, when a boy was stabbed because of change. Another man was killed on Wumba road. The same change issue led to the death of a man in Damagaza. In his case, after he was killed, they kept him near a river until the next day," he said.

Chukwudike said the last time such an incident occurred in the area, the traders protested and that it took the intervention of riot policemen to bring the situation under control.

"Because the motorcyclists knew what they did, they boycotted this route from Sunday evening until policemen were deployed to the area."

Azeez Akinola, Anigbo’s boss at the barbershop, corroborated Chukwudike story, saying the attitude of motorcyclists in the area is a cause for concern. Akinola who lives around the area where the late Anigbo lived, said he and two other people rushed out of their houses when they received news of the incident, but that the motorcyclists at Kabusa junction refused to take them to the scene.

Akinola who had worked with Anigbo for more than four years in a small barbershop at NEPA Junction, Apo, said it took them a longtime to find a motorcycle to convey them.

He said when they arrived the scene, they saw several people with sticks, but that they did not understand the magnitude of what had happened until someone pointed to the corpse of Anigbo in the fire.

"I could not believe it. There were heaps of iron treads from the burnt tyres on his body," Akinola said amidst tears.

"He was very gentle," Akinola continued." If small wound touch am, he go treat am for more than one week. I.K. can’t ride a bicycle, talk less of motorcycle. Because of fear, he refused to learn driving despite the fact that they were many people around to teach him," he said.

He said the matter was reported at the Apo Police Station, where he wrote a statement before police officers took the corpse to a mortuary.

When contacted, the spokesperson of the FCT police command, ASP Anjuguri Manzah said, "there was an early morning disagreement between two opposing groups that could have resulted in a clash but it was averted by the timely intervention of anti-riot police personnel."

Manzah said the FCT Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, warned people of the area to desist from violence at the wake of the disagreement and promptly deployed police officers to the scene. The commissioner assured residents of the area and other parts of FCT that adequate measures have been deployed to contain the situation, investigate and unravel the remote and underlying issues behind the upheaval.

He reiterated that any attempt to jeopardise the existing peaceful and serene atmosphere in the Federal Capital Territory will not be tolerated. Though normalcy has returned to the area, the relative peace enjoyed may not last for long if a lasting solution is not proffered. Chukwudike said government should stop motorcyclists from arming themselves with daggers.

"Why should government allow them to move around with daggers unchallenged?" he asked.

There are several versions of the incident, while some insist that the late Anigbo did not commit any crime, some alleged that he attempted to snatch the motorcycle he rode to the junction but was overpowered by the motorcyclists. However, it is hoped that the police through their investigation will be able to give a clearer picture of what actually transpired.

More trouble looms in Emirates stadium as cech gets injured

– Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech will not be in action for up to four weeks

– The goalkeeper will miss at least six crucial matches

The Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech has been ruled out for three to four weeks due to an injury sustained during their home match against Swansea

The no.1 shot-stopper sustained the injury when he came up for a corner and the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger disclosed that the goalkeeper was suffering from a groin problem before the game.

“Cech had a little groin problem but declared himself 100% fit. You trust the player. He is 33 years of age,” said Wenger.

As a result, the former Chelsea keeper is likely to miss at least four Premier League games, plus the Champions League second leg in Barcelona and the FA Cup replay against Hull.

Meanwhile, Santi Cazorla could miss the rest of the season after suffering a devastating injury. The player was hoping to return after his recuperation from a knee injury but that was stalled because of an Achilles problem.

Also, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been ruled out for up to eight weeks due to a knee injury. However, the player is expected to return to action before the start of Euro 2016, as the player has been told he will not require surgery.

Read Buhari's strong message to buhari

Muhammadu Buhari has warmly congratulated ex-president Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in an early message for his 79 birthday on March 5, Saturday.

Femi Adesina, presidential media aide issued a statement saying that Buhari affirms that the ex-president, who is approaching the octogenarian cycle, has contributed immensely to the institutionalization of democracy in Nigeria and Africa through his personal sacrifice, extensive local and international networks, and God-given wisdom.

The statement reads in part: “President Buhari believes that Chief Obasanjo’s place in global history is assured for successfully handing over power to a civilian government in 1979 after serving as a military Head of State, and returning to power in 1999 through elections to stabilize the polity, during which he most remarkably negotiated a debt relief for Nigeria.

“The president warmly commends Chief Obasanjo’s vision and commitment to the growth of Nigeria and Africa, which translated into a historical growth rate of 6 percent for the Nigerian economy after a long period of slow growth, and also created a rippling effect that buoyed other African economies.

“As he turns 79, the president avers that the former president’s regular shuttles across Nigeria and Africa to counsel on economic, social and political issues, and his willingness to head election monitoring teams that have heralded smooth transitions in many countries are legacies which generations will remain grateful.
